Scouting

Scout groups attend in order to earn Cub Scout achievements, belt loops, pins and/or badges. Being a historic, natural science museum, the Institute possesses wonders that children of any age can enjoy and explore.

Programs

We provide an exciting hands-on geology lesson that fulfills the requirements of the geology academic pin and belt loop as well as the Webelos geologist activity badge. We begin in the 19th century lecture hall for an orientation to geology. After your scouts have thoroughly examined the teaching collection, we will move to the exhibit hall upstairs. Upstairs, scouts will participate in geological activities including a scavenger hunt that will orient them to the magnificent geology collection housed at the Wagner Institute.

Fees

There is no fee. A donation of $8 per person is suggested, but any contribution your group can offer will make a difference.

Pins and belt loops are available for purchase in the gift shop.

Scheduling

Although closed to the public on Mondays, the Wagner will schedule scout troops on these days. Subject to availability, we can schedule troops of 10 or more scouts on any Monday except for Memorial Day and Labor Day. Keep the Wagner in mind when schools have teacher in-service days and other school closings.

To schedule your troop's visit please call 215-763-6529 ext. 15.
