The Philadelphia Honey Festival aims to raise awareness about the importance of bees to our environment, the impact of local honey on our economy, and to promote urban beekeeping and gardening.

Join us once again as we kick off the Philadelphia Honey Festival at the Wagner Free Institute of Science on Friday, September 5!

10:00am-12:00pm: Buzz About Bees!

This program for home school children will examine the fascinating, important work of pollinators. Following a lesson in the historic lecture hall, there will be scavenger hunts, bee-themed games, and active hive demonstrations.

Space is limited. Registration is required. Email here by September 3 to register for the program. Please include Name, Contact Information, and Number of Children and Adults.

5:00-7:00pm: Honey Happy Hour

Join us in our yard for our annual Honey Happy Hour. This year there will be honey-brewed beer samples from the Philly Home Brew Outlet and local brewer David Schuetz. And what kind of Honey Happy Hour would it be without mead? Colony Meadery will also be on site with samples to share. Food is being generously donated by Whole Foods, Calowhill. In addition, there will be open hive viewings, honey extraction demonstrations, honey vendors, and bee bearding. View a photo exhibit featuring beekeeper Yovina Tanamas-Miller and check out the offerings of Flowerdelphia, author Allison Gillespie, and Truly Pure and Natural. Remember to bring some extra cash for raffle tickets!
